Which TWC whitening product should I choose?
We give you the choice of using our Platinum Pens or our Platinum Strips, it’s all down to personal preference. Our strips are great for an easier and faster, on-the-go whitening experience, while the pen offers more precision for those hard-to-reach places. Our LED BLK light 2.0 speeds up the process of either, leaving you a whiter smile in as little as 25 minutes. You can find out more about each product by looking on our ‘products’ page.
How quickly will I see results?
You usually will start to see results after your first use. The Whitening Co products take up to 14 days of consistent use before displaying the full whitening and brightening potential of our formula.
Is teeth whitening safe?
Yes! The Whitening Co products are entirely safe to use and do not damage your enamel or cause harm to your teeth and gums.
Our products have been manufactured to FDA standards and are best used in defined amounts. Our Platinum pens and strips are safer to use than competing whitening applicators because they allow for precise operation, to avoid any sensitivity or gum irritation. Don’t overuse your whitening gel, less is best!
I have calcium spots (white spots) - How do I treat these?
We recommend that the first order of business is talking to a dental professional about strengthening your teeth, because this problem affects their structural integrity. Hypo-calcification may require fluoride treatments or cements/crowns to fix. In-studio or at-home bleaching can work, but only for milder cases, and while the whitening co products will not worsen or harm your calcium spots, they may appear brighter after use, so make sure to also use a toothpaste that helps replenish calcium.
Should I brush my teeth before or after I use TWC products?
You can brush your teeth before and/or after using The Whitening Co products, without any delay or wait times. We recommend that you maintain regular teeth brushing whilst using The Whitening Co products.
The optimal time to brush is before use, as this will clear away any food or bacteria from your teeth that may get in the way of the best whitening results.
How long should I wait to eat or drink after use?
While you are not strictly limited to avoid food or drink before or after use, we recommend that within 2 hours after use, you avoid any highly acidic food or drinks, or anything prone to staining your teeth, such as red wine, coffee, darkly coloured juices or sauces, ice blocks or berries. This is to ensure that you experience the absolute potential of your TWC products.

How does the BLK light 2.0 work?
Here's how it works:
Our gels and strips contain hydrogen peroxide, which, in order to maximise its whitening effect, requires high-powered LED lights.
Our BLK light 2.0 LED’s then activate the formula. Our formula absorbs and travels through the enamel of your tooth, whitening on its way (short-term whitening). Given 25 minutes, our activated formula should have reached the dentin of your teeth (long-term whitening).
The result: a long-term, brighter, whiter smile.
To clarify: the dentin is the actual ‘tooth-bone’ that gives your teeth their natural white-ivory colour, the enamel is a clear, ‘glass-like’ protein layer that ‘clothes’ the tooth dentin.
Do whitening products work on veneers?
Although our Platinum Kit and Platinum Strips do not whiten teeth with veneers as efficiently, you can use our products to lift any topical stains or whiten your natural teeth to achieve your desired coloured match.
Can I whiten while pregnant or breastfeeding?
There’s not enough research on whitening during pregnancy or breastfeeding, so we always recommend checking with your midwife or GP first before using any peroxide-based product.
What age can I whiten?
We don’t recommend whitening for anyone under 16 years old, as enamel is still developing. Once you’re past that, you’re good to glow!

What are the Platinum Whitening Strips?
Our Platinum Whitening Strips are professional-strength at-home whitening strips made with a 6.9% hydrogen peroxide formula the strongest available in NZ.
How do I use the Platinum Whitening Strips?
Each box contains 14 top and bottom strips (14 full whitening sessions) designed to lift stains and brighten your smile in just 40 minutes.
To use:
- Peel the bigger strip for your upper teeth and the smaller one for your lower teeth.
- Make sure your teeth are clean and dry, then apply the sticky side directly onto your teeth.
- Leave on for 40 minutes.
- Remove and rinse away any residue you can lightly brush if desired.
TWC Tip: For best results, avoid eating or drinking (especially coffee, tea, or wine) for one hour after use. Or, use them at night after your last meal so your teeth can develop overnight.
How often should I use them?
For your initial whitening routine, the strips are safe to use daily.
If you’re wanting to make a visible difference, aim for at least 3+ times per week, depending on your goals and how white you’d like your teeth to get.
Once you’re happy with your results, you can reduce usage to maintain them.
To maintain:
- Use once or twice a week as a top-up.
- Pair with the BLK Light 2.0 to speed up the process.
How soon will I see results?
Most people notice a visible difference after just one or two uses, with optimal results appearing after 7–10 sessions.
Results depend on:
- Coffee, wine, or smoking habits
- Your natural enamel shade (genetics play a part!)
- How consistently your using the strips
This will gradually lift over time, so it looks nice and natural and you’re in control of how bright you want to go.
How long do the results last?
Teeth whitening isn’t permanent, it's something you maintain over time.
Depending on your diet and habits, results usually last 3–6 months.
Some customers like doing a 3-day refresh every few months, while others prefer one strip a week. There's no wrong way, just what works for you.
To extend results:
- Limit dark beverages around whitening, like coffee, red wine, or cola.
- Rinse your mouth after staining foods.
- Maintain with a strip or pen top-up weekly or fortnightly.

Are they safe for sensitive teeth?
Yes! Our 6.9% hydrogen peroxide formula is designed to be powerful without the harshness of traditional whitening.
If you have sensitive teeth:
- Use them every second or third day to give your teeth time to settle.
- Shorten wear time to around 30 minutes at first, then increase once you know your tolerance.
- Avoid brushing immediately before whitening to prevent gum irritation.
- Use our Desensitising Gel or a sensitive toothpaste if needed for added comfort.
Many customers with sensitivity find the Platinum Strips gentle and effective.
Are they enamel-safe?
Yes 100%! Our formula is dentist-developed and enamel-safe.

Can I use them with dental work (veneers, fillings, crowns)?
Absolutely! The strips are completely safe for dental work and can help remove surface stains from veneers, crowns, or composite fillings.
Keep in mind that artificial teeth don’t change colour, so while your natural teeth will whiten, your dental work will remain its original shade often helping your overall smile look more even.
For example:
- If your crowns are darker than your natural teeth, your natural teeth will lift around them, which might make the crowns appear slightly more noticeable.
- If your natural teeth are darker, whitening is a great way to even things out across your smile.
Many people also choose to whiten first to reach their ideal shade before replacing or redoing crowns or veneers, that way, your new dental work can be colour-matched to your brightest smile. Then, you can use the strips to maintain that new shade long-term.
Do I need to use the BLK Light with them?
It’s optional, but if you have our BLK Light 2.0, we highly recommend it!
- The LED light helps activate the whitening formula faster.
- You’ll often see better results in fewer sessions.
- It helps keep strips in place great if you’re a bit of a wriggler or more salivary.
If you’re using the strips without the light, leave them on for 40 minutes.
If you’re using the BLK Light, you can shorten to the light’s self-timer of 25 minutes for the same result.
What flavours do they come in?

Some people use both: pens for targeted whitening and strips for full whitening sessions.

3. Timeframe for Claims

Before & After Photo Requirements
To fairly assess your claim, we require clear and comparable photos showing your teeth before and after completing treatment. These must meet the following criteria:
Lighting:
• Photos must be taken in natural daylight or bright, white lighting (not warm/yellow-toned or dim lighting)
• Both photos must be taken in similar lighting conditions to ensure an accurate comparison
• Avoid backlighting, shadows, or reflections that could distort the colour of your teeth
Framing:
• Photos must show your full, natural smile with lips parted to reveal the teeth
• Images must be in focus, unfiltered, and not digitally enhanced or altered
• Try to keep your angle and distance consistent between the before and after shots
Tip: The best results are usually captured in indirect daylight near a window, facing straight on.
If submitted photos are unclear or taken in inconsistent conditions, we may request new images before a claim can be processed.
What’s Not Covered
Our Money-Back Guarantee does not apply in the following situations:
• You did not complete the full treatment plan as instructed
• You did not contact our team for support during the treatment period
• Before and after photos do not meet the above requirements

We want you to love your TWC experience - but if something’s not right, we’re here to help.
Please note that due to the nature of our products, our returns process is slightly different from general retailers. Read below to see what qualifies for return.
Return Timeframe
We accept returns for eligible items within 30 days of your order delivery date.
Unfortunately, we can’t offer refunds or exchanges for any returns requested after 30 days.
Eligibility for Return
To be eligible for a return:
- Your item must be unused, unopened, and in original packaging
- The product must be in the same condition as when you received it
- A valid proof of purchase (order confirmation or receipt) is required
Non-Returnable Items
Due to hygiene and safety reasons, we cannot accept returns on the following:
Products that have been opened or used
- Items classified as personal care or oral health once packaging has been broken
- Products containing peroxide or whitening gel, as these are regulated cosmetic/chemical goods
- Any item not in its original packaging
- Returns made more than 30 days after delivery
We also do not accept returns on custom promotional bundles or free gifts.
Exchanges
We only replace items if they are defective or damaged upon arrival. If you need to exchange a product, please contact our customer care team with photos and order details.
How to Request a Return

- Reason for return
- Photos (if relevant)
Our team will review your request and provide return instructions if eligible.
Please note: return shipping costs are the responsibility of the customer unless the item is faulty or incorrect.
When Are Refunds Issued?
Refunds are only issued in the following situations:
- If your item arrives damaged, defective, or incorrect, and we are unable to provide a replacement
- If you are approved for a return of an unused, unopened item in line with our 30-day return policy
- If you have qualified for a refund under our 100% Money-Back Guarantee (see separate terms here)
- If your order was cancelled prior to dispatch
Once your return or refund request is received and approved, your refund will be processed back to your original payment method.
Late or Missing Refunds
